11 - 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
12 - 1/2 tsp almond extract
→ Topping
13 - 2 tbsp sliced almonds
14 - 1 tbsp powdered sugar (optional, for dusting)
# How-To:
01 - Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and line a 9-inch round cake pan with parchment paper.
02 - Toss sliced plums with 1 tablespoon granulated sugar in a small bowl and let macerate while preparing the batter.
03 - Whisk together flour, ground almonds, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl.
04 - Beat softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, approximately 3 minutes.
05 - Incorporate eggs one at a time, beating thoroughly after each addition. Mix in vanilla and almond extracts.
06 - Add half of the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, pour in the milk, then add the remaining dry ingredients. Mix gently until just combined.
07 - Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth the surface. Evenly arrange sugared plum slices over the batter and sprinkle with sliced almonds.
08 - Bake for 38 to 42 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean and the cake develops a golden hue.
09 - Let cake cool in the pan for 15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
10 - Dust cake with powdered sugar just before serving, if desired.
